Where does Setapp store its files?

When you install Setapp and the apps within it, a number of files are created and changed on your Mac. Some of these files are stored in the Applications folder, others may be harder to find.

Below is the list of all locations where the Setapp desktop client keeps its data.

Note: You won't find here any information related to the apps you install via Setapp. It depends on the particular app and can be provided by the developer of the app.

Setapp’s database and files

• ~/Library/Application Support/Setapp
• ~/Library/Application Support/Setapp/Default/ — databases and resources of Setapp and its apps, including screenshots, logos, descriptions, and so on.
• ~/Library/Application Support/Setapp/LaunchAgents — LaunchAgents binaries.

Setapp settings

• ~/Library/Preferences/com.setapp.DesktopClient.plist
• ~/Library/Preferences/com.setapp.DesktopClient.SetappAgent.plist
• ~/Library/Preferences/com.setapp.DesktopClient.SetappLauncher.plist
• ~/Library/Preferences/com.setapp.DesktopClient.SetappUpdater.plist

Caches

To decrease the traffic, Setapp caches app-related data in the following locations:

• ~/Library/Caches/com.setapp.DesktopClient
• ~/Library/Caches/com.setapp.DesktopClient.SetappAgent
• ~/Library/Caches/com.setapp.DesktopClient.SetappInstaller
• ~/Library/Caches/com.setapp.DesktopClient.SetappLauncher

LaunchAgents

Setapp creates .plist files in the LaunchAgent folder to enable licensing of its apps on the system launch:

• ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.setapp.DesktopClient.SetappAgent.plist
• ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.setapp.DesktopClient.SetappUpdater.plist

Apps

• /Applications/Setapp (admin accounts) or ~/Applications/Setapp (standard accounts) — apps you’ve installed via Setapp.
• /Users/Shared/Apps/Setapp — preview data and shortcuts of non-installed apps displayed in the Spotlight search results and in the Open With menu.

Logs

Technical information on operations and processes running within Setapp is stored at ~/Library/Logs/Setapp.
