It might be a case that Setapp includes an app that you had subscribed to before joining Setapp. Of course, no need to pay for the app twice: within individual and Setapp subscriptions. So, read this article about how to cancel your previous subscription and smoothly move to the Setapp subscription.
The flow differs depending on the app platform.
macOS app
- Open Setapp, find the app you want to continue using and install it. You will have two instances of the app installed on your Mac which is a peculiarity of macOS. Instances of the app are located in different folders and have different Bundle IDs.
- Open the new instance of the app and sync data with the previous instance.
Note: Not all of the apps provide synchronization functionality. If not provided, try to upload the needed files and settings manually. Mind the export/import feature that might be helpful.
- Ensure one more time that the new instance of the app can operate with the needed data. Then remove the previous app instance.
- Cancel individual subscription for the app on your Mac. If you subscribed to the app via App Store, read how to unsubscribe in the Apple support documentation. If you subscribed to the app via its company's website, visit the website and cancel your subscription there.
iOS app
In contrast with macOS, you cannot install the same app twice. So, the procedure differs.
- Cancel your individual subscription on your iPhone or iPad. Read how to do it in the Apple support documentation.
- If your individual billing period lasts, let it expire even if you have already applied the Setapp subscription.
- When it expires, activate the app through Setapp.
Note: You must skip the installation steps and go forward to activation.
Web app
You can switch to Setapp subscription at any time.
- Sign out from your individual account.
- Sign in with Setapp.
- Cancel your individual subscription.
