AI+ plans are designed for users who rely on AI tools daily. Compared to regular Setapp plans, they offer significantly more AI credits per month — so you can do more without worrying about running out of credits.

We provide two AI+ plans:

Notes: 

• If you have your own subscription to an AI service (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), you can add your personal API key to Setapp AI apps that support this option. Your personal key won't impact the Setapp AI tracker, so remember to track your AI usage through your AI provider's account.
• Unused credits from the free 7-day trial will not carry over or be added to the credits included in your chosen plan.
• The prices listed don't include taxes, which vary by country of residence.

About credits

Credits are the unit used to calculate your AI usage across all Setapp AI+ apps. The number of tokens per credit varies depending on the AI model used.

A token is a small piece of information that AI systems use to understand human language. It can be a word, part of a word, or a group of words. About 1,000 tokens equals 750 words.

To give you an idea of the credit value, here is a very approximate conversion to AI messages and minutes.

100 credits in TypingMind:

• ≈ 133 messages (your requests + AI answers) with the GPT3.5-Turbo model
• ≈ 7 messages with the GPT4-Turbo model
• ≈ 13 messages with the GPT-4o model
• ≈ 16 minutes in MurmurType with the Whisper model

Note: Each app in the Setapp AI+ collection is powered by AI models chosen by the app developer, ranging from text to voice transcription. Depending on the model, the length of your request, and the type of task, the cost of each interaction may vary in credits. The actual value of 1 credit will depend on the number of tokens in the messages, the AI model, and other parameters.

Unused credits are reset and will not be carried over to the next billing period.

You can check the number of available credits and where you used them in your Setapp account  > Credits. 

Your remaining credits are also visible directly in the Setapp desktop header. The icon also changes when you're running low (under 5% remaining), so you'll always know where you stand. Click the credits counter to manage your balance in your Setapp account.

FAQ

Should I subscribe to an AI+ plan in addition to my existing plan?

No, these plans are interchangeable. You can choose either a regular plan or an AI+ plan. 

Can I use my own OpenAI API key in Setapp apps?

Sure! There are no restrictions on the Setapp side, allowing you to use your own API key. Most developers have already implemented this possibility, so just add your key to the AI apps you use.

However, remember that Setapp cannot track AI usage when you use a personal API key. Therefore, tracking AI usage is your responsibility.

Are my messages sent to AI private?

Absolutely! In Setapp, we can only see the number of tokens used and the AI model utilized. We cannot view the messages themselves, nor do we store them. 

Will I get my own Setapp key if I subscribe to the AI+ plan?

No. We share our OpenAI key with our subscribers, so all Setapp subscribers use the same OpenAI key. This means you can use it only within Setapp apps and not outside Setapp.

How can I switch to the AI+ plan?

To change your plan, go to your Setapp account, then navigate to Purchases > Setapp membership > Manage subscription > Change plan. Please note that you will need to pay the difference between your previous and new plans. Please also note that used credits within the current plan will apply to your next AI+ period.

Note: The number of devices included in the AI+ plans may differ from the number on your current plan. The table below will help you identify the plan that best suits your needs. However, the final decision is yours.

Example:

Let's discover how this procedure works:

• On January 6, John Doe subscribed to the monthly Setapp "Mac" plan for $14.99 and received 1,000 credits in his Setapp account. Suppose he uses 340 credits by March 1.
• On March 1, he upgrades his plan to the AI Enthusiast monthly plan. He pays the difference: $22.99 - $14.99 = $8 — the total difference in plans' fees. $8 ÷ 30 (days in a month) = $0.27 — the difference in plans' fees per day. $0.27 × 6 (days left) = $1.60 — the difference fee that John Doe must pay for upgrading his plan.
• On March 1, John Doe gets 6,000 credits once the payment is confirmed. 340 of them are already used. In his Setapp account, he sees: 
  AI credits: 5,660/6,000.

How to use DALL·E?

DALL·E is a text-to-image AI tool. Use it to create infographics, images for your blog, logos, postcards for your friend’s birthday, and more.

Currently, only TypingMind and BoltAI support DALL·E among Setapp apps.

To use DALL·E in TypingMind via the Setapp key, click Plugins > DALL-E by Setapp > Enable DALL·E by Setapp. Click Settings to choose the image resolution and quality.

Note: TypingMind only supports DALL·E 3.

To use DALL·E in BoltAI via the Setapp key, click New Chat and open the top menu with models. Choose DALL·E 3. To choose DALL·E 2, click View all models and choose it in the Model field.

DALL·E 3 offers improved image quality and a deeper understanding of prompts, while using DALL·E 2 is more cost-effective.
