… but in this world, nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes!
Benjamin Franklin
When collecting the Setapp subscription fee, we are required to charge and report taxes on your purchase. The most common tax forms are the sales tax in the US and the value-added tax (VAT) or the goods and services tax (GST) in the EU and other countries.
Depending on the state, the tax varies from 5% to 25% of the fee. As an estimate of what you’ll pay on top of the Setapp subscription, you may use this list by Paddle, our payment provider partner.
The good news is that no matter the country, type, or amount, the tax is always charged automatically alongside your Setapp subscription payment; you don't need to take extra steps or calculations.
VAT for businesses
As a company using Setapp, you may take advantage of the VAT reverse charge and avoid double tax payments. To do so, specify your VAT ID in the payment details.
Note: Businesses registered in the UK may need to claim the VAT refund directly with HM Revenue and Customs, meaning that the VAT reverses charge mechanism might not be available for them. This limitation is applied because purchasing a Setapp subscription might involve a UK VAT-registered seller (one of our payment providers); such an operation requires direct cooperation with the local tax authorities.
