macOS 11 Big Sur
As of April 16, 2021:
- 208 apps in Setapp are working smoothly on macOS 11
- 4 apps have issues, but fixes are on the way
If you come across an issue with an app from Setapp on Big Sur, we’d be happy if you let us know.
Apple silicon ARM (M1) processors
To start with, the Setapp desktop app itself is a native M1 application. That is, its software architecture has been optimized for use with the new Apple silicon chips.
Many of our developer partners have already added the native M1 versions of their apps in Setapp. According to release notes, by April 16, 2021, these apps are:
- 24 Hour Wallpaper
- Asset Catalog Creator Pro
- Bartender
- BetterTouchTool
- BetterZip
- BusyCal
- Canary Mail
- CleanMyMac X
- CleanShot X
- Default Folder X
- Disk Drill
- Dropzone
- Downie
- Due
- Euclid
- Gitfox
- Goldie
- GoodTask

Apps that don't support Apple silicon natively are still supposed to work on M1 processors. For such applications, macOS provides Rosetta — a built-in software translator. Rosetta converts the Intel-based applications at the first start so that users could work with them comfortably on their new Macs.
Unfortunately, as of April 16, 2021, these apps from Setapp will not open on Macs with the M1 chips:
- AdGuard
- Beamer
- Coherence X
- n-Track Studio
- VirtualHostX
