Setapp referral program

If you like Setapp enough to recommend it, our referral program is a chance to spread the word and benefit from that.

The steps are simple:

1. You share an invite with a friend.
2. Your friend signs up for Setapp using a referral link from your invite.
3. Your friend starts a paid subscription, and you both get a free month in Setapp.

The number of people to invite is not limited; it doesn't matter which subscription plan your friend chooses.

Now let's go through the steps in detail.

Step 1: Share an invite with a friend

Invite a friend via email:

1. On the "Earn free months" page of your Setapp account, type in the recipient's email in the Email field, then click "Invite a friend."
2. An email message with a recommended text about joining Setapp opens. Make sure your friend's email is specified correctly. Add a personal message, if you want, then send the message.

Share an invitation message on WhatsApp, Facebook, or Twitter:

1. On the "Earn free months" page of your account, click the corresponding button on the right from the field with an invitation link.
2. A post editor with a recommended text about joining Setapp opens. Add a personal message if you want, then publish the post.

Share the invite personally:

1. On the "Earn free months" page of your account, click "Copy link" on the right from the field with an invitation link.

   Your invite link looks like this:

   https://go.setapp.com/invite/<referral-id>

2. Send the link in the way you prefer (for example, using an instant messaging app).
   Don't forget to add a personal message: the link itself might not be enough to understand Setapp and its benefits.

Step 2: Your friend signs up for Setapp

Once the invitee receives the invite, it's enough to click the invitation link and register in Setapp. On the sign-up page, we mention that this registration includes a free month.

Then, the free trial starts; it's high time to discover apps. We think the best way to know Setapp is to search for tools for your everyday tasks — you'll be surprised by how many solutions Setapp can offer.

Step 3: Your friend starts a paid subscription

If your friend likes Setapp, the next steps are:

1. Add payment details (this article might help).
2. Activate membership on the Subscription page of the Setapp account.

As a friendly reminder, a banner on the Subscription page tells you the free month is ready to be applied.

How do I convince a friend to accept the invitation?

In every invitation, we offer a short text about Setapp and its benefits. Still, your own words will persuade way better. Hopefully, our blog post may help; see "3 effective strategies to share Setapp and earn free months."

How do we know we've been given a free month?

Once your friend starts a paid subscription, we're emailing you about that. You can also check the "Next payment" line on your Subscription page: if the date is a month later than the next expected payment, the free month has been applied.

Finally, the counter on the "Earn free months" page shows the number of people you've invited and how many of them became Setapp subscribers.

Limitations

The referral program is not applied for Setapp Families (a legacy plan) and Setapp Teams. This limitation results from our subscription principles:

• The Bring-a-Friend program is for individual subscribers who can recommend Setapp to other individuals — and benefit from that. Moreover, neither Family nor Team members don’t actually need free months since they don't pay for Setapp themselves.
• Family and Team plans are for professional, company-based use of Setapp. Among other values, the advantage of these plans is paying less for every group member — which is precisely the benefit that Family and Team owners get. So, personal referrals are not applicable for owners either.
